The experiment aimed to study the preservative effect of extenders made from plant sources on seminal parameters of the warm semen of rabbit bucks. A heterospermic pool was formed from the semen samples collected from 10 matured rabbit bucks of proven fertility with average weight of 1.5kg. Experimental treatments comprised of sugarcane, watermelon and onion juices, each diluted by distilled water to have varying concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% plus normal saline and undiluted sample making a total of eleven. 0.5ml of the semen pool was extended in each of the diluents and normal saline. Sperm motility, liveability, and morphology of the extended semen and that of the pool which was unextended were observed at hourly intervals for 3 hours at room temperature. Data was analyzed using factorial analysis of variance and probability value of 5% was considered statistically significant after separation by Duncan Multiple Range Test. Liveability (73.67% – 90.67%), motility (33.33% – 90.00%) and abnormality (8.50% – 33.83%) differed significantly (p<0.05) among the extenders. The studied semen parameters significantly reduced (p<0.05) across the hours with the least values at the end of the observation in all the diluents regardless of their concentration. The result of the study showed that diluted watermelon juice more than sugarcane and onion juices can be utilized in preserving rabbit semen for 3 hours without refrigeration with the semen fertilizing potentials preserved.
